Created in 1635 under the patronym of the Jardin du Roi, the Jardin des Plantes de Paris took its name from the Revolution. Located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, it stretches between the Paris mosque, the Jussieu campus and the Seine. Nearly 400 years later, it still welcomes the public in its spaces with a total area of 23.5 hectares. Visitors can explore the famous 500 m long perspective leading from the Seine to the large gallery of evolution, thus tasting the typical charm of French gardens. Other botanical pleasures are also offered through a visit to the Alpine garden, the garden of irises and perennials, the labyrinth, the garden of peonies, that of irises and perennials… Not to mention the exploration of large greenhouses which, since their reopening in 2010 after 5 years of work, allow everyone to discover the vegetation of amazing environments: deserts and arid environments or tropical rain forests.
